About Borderwise

The Borderwise Project is a cross-border initiative developed in partnership between Citizens Advice in Northern Ireland and the Citizens Information Board. The project is aimed at meeting the advice, information and advocacy needs of people living in the border counties of Ireland, north and south, with a specific focus on rights and entitlements which have a cross-border or conflict related dimension.

The work of the project aims to support and enhance the capacity of Advice and Information services in the border region to respond to the complexity of advice and information needs experienced by people in a cross-jurisdictional context.

What we do

We respond to complex cross-border queries from the public on rights, entitlements and social services

We aim to build the capacity of Citizen Advice Bureaux (CABx) and Citizens Information Services (CISs) in the Border counties to provide advice, information and advocacy services in relation to cross-border rights and entitlements.

We work with victim support groups and ex-prisoner support groups to develop a programme of support in relation to information on rights & entitlements of individual victims of the conflict.

We support and facilitate cross-border networking and co-operation between CABx and CISs in the border region

We identify and highlight key cross-border social policy issues

We develop and distribute cross-border advice and information resources including:

  • Case Studies
  • 'Going North’ ‘Going South’ Fact Sheets
  • Frequently Asked Questions
